Summer time

We don't know how but the end of the school year has arrived. I know that you want to switch off from school but I recommend you to keep your English alive! How? You can listen to English songs through Lyrics Training, you can read Travelers through Milton Education and you can use videos to improve your fluency. The videos below are  examples. Try to match the tone, speed and even the accent (if you can). It doesn’t matter if you miss a few words, the important thing is to keep talking.

I encourage you to choose a short part of different shows and repeat it line by line!

URBAN GARDEN dossier

Hi everyone,

What do you remember?

Hi there, how are youuuuuu? I am sure that you are excited because you will go back at school. Anyway, here you have a wheel. Do it and tell me your results, saying "I did ....out of 26"

1) ABC wheel game. When you finish, publish your results in Google Classroom. Remember, you have to say "I did...out of 26"

2) Quiz about plants. Do it because it is an individual exercise about plants. It's an activity to check your learnings. You will find it in Google Classroom. Do not print it.
3) Urban Garden Self evaluation. You will find the document in Google Classroom. Do not print it.

Plan it green

Hi everyone! today I have excellent news for you. I encourage you to make your planet greener. How? By selecting components of a power plant in the correct order to create a working power plant. For clearer instructions, watch the trailer in the link below.

1)

2) After that, I encourage you to visit lyrics training where you have an activity related to "The Lion King". You will have to use the easy level (16 gaps). When you finish, you will have to write down your results in Google Classroom, in the English task called "Lyrics training". You will have to say, "I did 16 out of 16", or "I did 15 out of 16" or "I did 14 out of 16"... that will mean the number of your right answers out of the number of the gaps.

3) Finally, and after two months of confinement at home, you will have to think about yourself. What makes you wonderful? Think about it and draw it in this template. When you finish, upload it to Google Classroom

Dreaming from home

Hi everyone! This activity was designed during the confinement. I had an idea and I started to create this power point. You have some nature sounds linked in some slides. Listen to them and complete the questions in Google classroom. You will have to pay attention very well because in each slide you have a clue. Are you able to guess what is the secret word?

After that you will find a document in Google Classroom with ten questions. Fill it in with the information required:
1) Name three mountains in your Country. 2) What does “path” mean? 3) Name a beach where you usually go to have a bath. 4) Name five rivers in your Country. 5) What are the colours in the Irish flag? 6) Name five animals who live in the jungle. 7) Name 4 pieces of clothing to go to a waterfall. 8) Name a plant in the desert. 9) Name a volcano in your Country. 10) The secret word has got nine letters. Can you order the letters and guess what the word is?

The bright side & Travelers

Hi everyone, how are you?
Glòria, Gemma and Ines want to encourage you to mix movement+music+English.

Also, I have just added a new assignement in Travelers. So, visit the page and watch the video and do the quiz. You have until May 24th

May 9th, eTwinning Celebration

Hi there, May 9th is the Europe Day. Because of that, eTwinning celebrates its day too. I want to share a flag-memory-game in this post. You have just to print two copies of each page and play memory game. I ask you a favour, when you play with the game, may you take a photo and send it to me, please? Thanks a lot ;D

This is NOT a compulsory activity

SnapWords

Hi everyone! Today I encourage you to make art from the words we have worked in this School year. Make your own designs following this example:

Tap on this link and choose words among the different topics. Be careful and copy the words with no mistakes.

Make at least five words and send it to me through Google Classrom by uploading a photo.

LENTILS EXPERIMENT

Hi there, do you remember your project about plants? Yes, you are right, the Urban Garden Project. Along the first and second term, we learnt some facts about plants. Now, we are going to check our learnings by experimenting at home. We are going to become "lentils spies" (espíes de llenties ).
SPY

The experiment consists of placing around 50-60 gr of dried supermarket lentils in a jar and cover with water. The process is explained with photos in this power point. It's important you read it properly until the end.

I was able to eat my sprouts in a salad. They were delicious. I encourage you to taste your buds, too.

TASK 1. Along the process you will have to take photos and when you finish, you will choose just FOUR and you will describe them by writing sentences, one for each selected photo. To help you with your written activity, here you have models that can be useful for your written activity. You can use them or others that you consider useful for your task.

THE TASK WILL HAVE TO BE SENT BY GOOGLE CLASSROOM

TASK 2. Apart of that experiment, you have to watch a video in Travelers. When you visit the platform, look at  the red sentence, and click on "My assignments". After watching it, do the QUIZ.

IMPORTANT: Travelers will communicate to me that you finish the task.
You do not need to tell me by mail.

Congratulations for your new bags!

Tap on the image below and you will see a bigger image.
When you reuse, reduce or recycle, you make a world of difference.

Today, waste is a huge problem, affecting every part of our environment. If we want to make an impact in the fight against waste and pollution, one of the best actions we can do at home is to make a difference by the 3Rs.

Reusing an old T-shirt&Planet Earth

Dearest children, how are you? Hope this post find you safe and healthy!

On April 22nd, we will celebrate the Earth Day. This year we have two important issues to stop. One is the COVID-19, the other is the climate change. We must solve both problems. Everyone can make a difference, so what can you do?

TASK 1)     I propose you to reuse cloth at home.
What about to make a bag reusing an old T-shirt?

MATERIAL:
old t-shirt
scissors

Lay your old t-shirt flat and use a pair of scissors to cut off the sleeves, neck area (so that it aligns with the sleeve cuts), and the bottom.

Now cut little strips on the bottom of the t-shirt (look at the photo)

TIP: While you are cutting the fringe take both the front and the back layer of the t-shirt so that you have pairs of strips.

Tie the strips together at the bottom in pairs until all of them are tied together and the bottom of the t-shirt is closed. Now you have a bag!

NOTICE: I cannot repeat the activity because I do not have another old t-shirt but I advice you to cut long strips because the idea is to have bags like the ones I show you in the photo below.

TASK 2) After that, Look at our planet from space in this video 360º

The Planet Earth
is the third
in the solar system.
It's blue and green
and its air is clean.
Let's take care
of Planet Earth.

After watching the video and understanding the poem above (use the dictionary on line if you have problems), draw a planet where you would like to live and add a slogan or sentence related to the Planet. Take a photo of your coloured drawing and send it to me or upload it to chatterpix padlet.

Play with words and musical dictation

Hi everyone, after the Easter break, let's refresh these grammar categories. So, pay attention to these three images. Read the descriptions of nouns, adjectives and verbs. After that, try to complete the activity below. When you finish it, correct it by yourself.

Now, do this activity. When you finish it, check the answers by going to the bottom and tapping "terminado".

MUSICAL DICTATION

HAPPY

To be or to have?

Hi there, how is it going?
This is an activity where you have to watch the video below and choose the correct answer in each question.

Advice: if you do not remember the difference between verb to be and verb to have, look at the BE/HAVE page at the top of this blog and check their forms.

QUASIMODO

Hi everyone!
Quasimodo is a fictional character who can help us to remember the order of any question.
He was the protagonist of the novel the Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo. He was born with a hunchback and feared by the townspeople as a sort of monster.
If you think about the first part of his name, you will never forget the structure of a question:

QUestion+Auxiliary+Subject + Infinitive (....)?

Look at these questions and check the structure in each question:
 Where do you live?
When do you start school?
What time do you wake up?
Why do birds sing?
How do you spell your name?

and...if you don't use a Question word, you have to follow ASI ;D
Auxiliary+Subject+Infitive...?    Yes/No.....

Do you cook?
Do you study English?
Do you like pasta?
